Çamlıhemşin, Rize

Zilkale

A medieval stone castle standing alone on a forested ridge above the Fırtına Valley.

Built to watch the valley route into the mountains, Zilkale is one of the most striking sights in the Eastern Black Sea, particularly when cloud drifts below the walls. It is roughly 15 km up the valley from Çamlıhemşin on a narrow road.
