There is no train and no direct flight to Ayder. Every trip here is a road trip: coast highway first, then a narrow valley climb through Çamlıhemşin. Which airport you land at, and which vehicle you take, changes that day far more than most visitors expect.
Trabzon Airport or Rize–Artvin Airport?
Trabzon (TZX) has far more flights, including international connections, but sits west of Rize so the drive to Ayder is the longer one. Rize–Artvin (RZV) is closer to the valley and cuts the drive roughly in half, with fewer daily options. Families arriving late usually prefer the shorter road.
Coast driving vs valley climbing
The coastal stretch is fast dual carriageway and comfortable in any car. After Ardeşen the road narrows, bends constantly and climbs — this is where a taller, well-maintained vehicle and a driver who knows the route matter, especially in rain or fog.
Luggage, child seats and stops
Count large suitcases before choosing a class: a sedan takes a couple, not six. Child seats, a prayer or tea stop on the coast, and a supermarket stop before going up the valley are all things to ask for when you send the request, not on the day.
Day use once you're up there
Ayder centre is walkable, but Pokut, Sal, Zilkale and the higher plateaus are not. Many guests keep a driver for a full day rather than booking separate legs — it costs less waiting time and lets you change plans when the cloud comes down.

- Send the flight number, not just the time — arrivals from Istanbul often shift and drivers track the flight.
- State the number of large suitcases separately from the number of passengers.
- Ask for child seats in advance; they are not standard in every vehicle.
- In fog or heavy rain, allow extra time on the valley section rather than planning a tight evening.

Which airport should I fly into for Ayder?
Rize–Artvin is closer and the drive is shorter; Trabzon has more flights and is still a straightforward same-day transfer. Send us both options and we will tell you which works better for your arrival time.
Can a normal car reach Pokut or Sal?
The upper plateau roads are narrow, steep and often wet. We arrange vehicles and drivers suited to those specific roads rather than sending a standard sedan up.
Do you show fixed prices?
No. Vehicle class, timing and season change the figure, so we quote per request instead of publishing numbers that would not hold.
